Scott Heins is a freelance photographer based in New York City, interested in stories that highlight inequality and reporting that addresses power. Scott has shot on assignment for The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Intercept, Vice Magazine, The Guardian, Getty Images, and numerous others. He began his photography career as a staff photographer at Gothamist.

Scott is a native of St. Cloud, Minnesota, but now calls New York City home. He is available for work both in and outside of New York City.

A journalist by vocation, Scott has also worked with NGOs as a writer and photographer. In February, 2017 he traveled and made pictures throughout Haiti with All Hearts and Hands, a non-profit committed to (re)building schools in regions impacted by national disasters. In summer 2017 he traveled to Somalia to document the emergency aid work of the American Refugee Committee.
